OK, so maybe not today... maybe not even for 5 or 6 years! but I did get your attention, right!?

I just came from my nephrologist, and she said that according to my labs I am healthier than people who've never even had kidney problems!

Here's the even better news: for the past 10 years, I was convinced that I would never be able to have children. I figured that my body couldn't handle the strain of pregnancy after having had a kidney transplant... or two. So it goes without saying that I was ecstatic to hear that my doctor (who is a woman and mother herself) said that I am perfectly capable of bearing children like any other woman. Granted, I would still have to monitor my health in a very regulated 9 months, but who wouldn't!?

Relatives of mine have even insisted that I should consider sterilization (getting my "tubes tied") to prevent any sort of risk of pregnancy. When I told my doctor that, she gasped, "Please don't do that! Especially if you do want to be a mother someday."

Wow... here I am with the actual option to choose someday. It boggles the mind. Especially since I really thought I had to convince myself to just get a Golden Retreiver...

I know that I have been blessed with the gift of new life via transplant, but I am just illuminated to know that I am capable of giving life, too.
